UFC 202

The long-awaited and much-anticipated rematch of Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor is coming up on August 20, 2016 and will occur at the brand new T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas. This fight is officially titled UFC 202: Diaz vs. McGregor 2. I think we all are aware how much build up there was to the last bout and just how badly Nate Diaz beat Conor McGregor.

The two main contenders had several disagreements prior to their last meeting and it is no different now. They had originally agreed to meet again during UFC 200 but McGregor had a disagreement with the UFC leading to his removal from that fight.

As we all know, in the previous meet between the two main contenders, Diaz won in the second round via rear-naked chokehold after some two-sided fighting that kept both fighters on their toes. Diaz is heavily favored in the event, although McGregor seems rather confident for a fighter who lost in the second round of the previous event. An exception to the original lineup for the bout is that Dong Hyun Kim, who was expected to fight Neil Magny, has pulled out due to injury as of July 12. Neil Magny will now be fighting Lorenz Larkin. Larkin being brought over to the UFC from Strikeforce in 2013, has had mixed results in the UFC thus far. The fight between former WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Conit and former UFC Middleweight Championship challenger Damian Maia was moved to a week after UFC 202 for a FOX event.

Rumors have been spreading about Tyron Woodley having a quick turnaround from his recent fight against Robbie Lawler, where he won the Welterweight Championship. The two rumored fighters are Nick Diaz and Georges St-Pierre. Nick Diaz freshly off of suspension has said he will gladly fight the new champion for the right price. Also, sources have said that St-Pierre is also interested in the fight. The co-headliner fight will be between the two light heavyweight fighters Anthony Johnson and Glover Texeira. The big fans are ready to see the fight between Rick Story and Donald Cerrone, as well. All in all, critics are prepared to see some good fighting and artistic displays for the sport on August 20th.
